PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porch pillar comprising a small number of components, having good installation characteristics and having less restrictions on design. SOLUTION: The porch pillar 1 is erected in a porch of an ordinary house for supporting eaves of the porch. The porch pillar 1 comprises a support 3 made of a square-pole-shaped timber and two cover members 5 and 6 having a U-shaped cross-section and covering the whole outer circumference of the support 3 with recessed parts 5b and 6b being disposed opposite to each other, and the side ends 5a and 6a of the two cover members 5 and 6 are bonded with an adhesive 4, respectively. The recessed parts 5b and 6b of the two cover members 5 and 6 are brought into close contact with and secured to the outer circumference of the support 3 without any clearance.
