PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a reflection guide board in a sheet-through type image reader, and to improve exchange workability of the white sheet member of the reflection guide board. SOLUTION: A sheet member 11 is mounted on a reflection guide board 10, so that the original carriage path side face of the reflection guide board 10 can be covered, by making each hole 11a of the sheet member 11 engage with each projecting part 10a of the reflection guide board 10. In this case, the sheet member 11 is made of white and elastic materials, so that the sheet member 11 can be adhered to be bent along the reflection guide board 10 with the elasticity. Thus, it is not necessary to paint the original carriage path side face of the conventional reflection guide board 10 in white color, and it is possible to exchange the sheet member 11 more easily than in the case of fixing the sheet member 11, through an adhesive member such as a double coated adhesive tape. Therefore, it is possible to facilitate countermeasures to any nonconformity affecting the justification of the white level due to scratches to be generated in the sheet member 11 during the use of this device.
