PORTABLE COMPUTER AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING COOLING FAN OF THE SAME

PURPOSE: A portable computer and a method for controlling a cooling fan of the same are provided to turn off an operation of a cooling fan in the case that a user wishes to reduce a noise being generated from a computer. CONSTITUTION: A cooling fan(19) cools the CPU(12). A power supply unit supplies a power source to the cooling fan(19). A temperature sensor(11) senses a temperature of the CPU(12). A low noise mode selection unit(13) is mounted in a compute main body and selects one mode out of a normal mode and a low noise mode. A control unit controls the power supply unit for making the cooling fan(19) be operated continuously in the case that the normal mode is selected. In the case that the low noise mode is selected, the control unit controls the power supply unit for operating the cooling fan(19) when the CPU(12) exceeds to a predetermined cooling opening speed based on a temperature signal from the temperature sensor(11). In the case that the normal mode is selected, the control unit adjusts a rotating speed of the cooling fan(19) in accordance with a temperature signal from the temperature sensor(11).
