PURPOSE: A GIS(Geographical Information System) and a geographical information providing method suitable for the same are provided to offer map information to user equipment having various display attributes. CONSTITUTION: A web GIS server(204) has a database(202) for storing entire map information of a single resolution. A control information server(212) acquires position information from a user equipment(210) and display attribute information of the user equipment, acquires map information corresponding to position information from the web GIS server(204), converts map information to be suitable for display attribute information of the user equipment(210), and transmits converted map information to the use equipment(210).
