PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems caused by use of chemicals by machining the surface of a wire with a mechanical means and to improve the efficiency of surface machining. SOLUTION: While the wire 1 is passed through a machining pipe 2 having an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of the wire 1 to be machined and continuously moved, and a mixture 9 of air 7 and grinding/polishing/cleaning material 8 is let flow at a high speed from one end toward the other end in the longitudinal direction in the machining pipe 2, whereby the mixture 9 is brought into contact with the surface of the wire 1 in the turbulent state, thereby surface-machining the wire 1. |
