Vertebra plate comprises a plate body with a plate axis arranged in the longitudinal direction of the spinal column of the patient and two transverse edges. The plate has a length that extends at least partially over at least two adjacent vertebrae. Recesses and fixing elements are provided for fixing the plate to at least two vertebrae. At least one recess and the fixing element (31, 50) are designed so that the fixing element can be arranged in the recess with its longitudinal axis at various angles to the longitudinal axis of the recess and fixed to the vertebrae. Devices (32, 40) are provided for fixing the angle of the fixing element in a selected position in the recess. Independent claims are also included for a fixing element and an insert.
