<p>A housing (13), bolted (14) to the hub (11) includes an axial aligned air pump (12) protected by a cover (10). The piston (16) and cylinder (17) on the hub axis (27) have an air intake (18, 20, 21) and an outlet connection (15) for a conduit to the tyre valve stem. The piston (16) is biased by a spring (32) to close valve (48). The piston (16) is reciprocated by a cam (23) and follower (28) to retract past the air inlet (21) before making a compression stroke by the spring (32). The follower (28) is fixed to, and rotates with the housing (13), while the cam (23) with weighted pendulum (24) is freely rotatable on axis (27) and remains stationary relative to the vehicle.</p> |
