PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device which can perform an inspection at a high speed on whether a natural defect exists or not which creates confusion with the proof pit, which is processed for protecting a copyright in an optical disk. SOLUTION: A read signal including a plurality of low-segments is obtained by optically reading a plurality of tracks on the optical disk. The plurality of low-segments must correspond to the proof-pits, respectively. If the interval between one low segment Xj and the low segment Xj+n existing ahead n from the low segment exceeds the length of one circumference of the track, it is judged that a defective pit which creates the confusion with the proof pit is mixed between the plurality of proof pits.
