The self-braking electric motor has a rotor shaft (2) with an associated braking unit (3) which blocks rotation of the motor shaft in the absence of electric supply to the motor. A supplementary assembly allows the manual release of the braking unit and the simultaneous rotation of the rotor in the absence of electric supply to the motor.
