The cows (3) enter through a narrow passage wide enough for one cow only. The carousel (2) has a narrow annular platform with a width approximately equal to the length of a cow. The movable partitions (10) are set at an angle (alpha) to the inner wall of the carousel and divide the carousel into cells (4) each containing two cows. The cows stand at an angle to the inner and outer walls of the carousel. The rotation of the carousel (R) carries the cows toward the exit, where the partitions fold flat against the inner wall and allow the cows to exit (8). The partitions then move into a radial position, blocking off the entrance (6) from the exit.
