The present invention relates to novel antidiabetic compounds, their derivatives, their analogs, their polymorphs and pharmaceutically acceptable compositions containing them. More particularly, the present invention relates to novel dioxalane of the general formula (I), their derivatives, their analogs, their polymorphs and pharmaceutically acceptable compositions containing them, wherein R<1> and R<2> may be same or different and represent hydrogen, (C1-6) alkyl or unsubstituted or substituted phenyl or R<1> and R<2> together may form a 5 or 6 membered cyclic structure.
