1300345 Solubilized liquid preparations MERCK & CO Inc 19 April 1971 [17 March 1970] 24229/71 Heading A5B Solubilized one-phase clear liquid systems comprising a hydrophobic liquid selected from C 5-7 hydrocarbons and edible oils, a pharmaceutically acceptable surfactant in sufficient concentration to form micellus, water, and a water-soluble orally consumable substance in an amount not exceeding that which will dissolve in the water, the amounts of surfactant and water being insufficient to cause turbidity, are prepared by combining together the above ingredients. The water-soluble substance may be separately mixed with the water and the surfactant separately mixed with the hydrophobic liquid, and the two mixtures then combined, or the surfactant may be added to the hydrophobic liquid, then the water added and finally the water-soluble substance added. The hydrophobic liquid may be n-hexane or n-heptane or a vegetable oil such as corn, olive, orange, coconut, soybean, cottonseed or peanut oil. The surfactant may be dioctyl sodium sulphosuccinate, triglycerol monooleate, decaglycerol dioleate, ethoxylated stearic acid, caprylic acid, lecithin, n-dodecylamine caproate, n-octodecylamine caproate, hexanolamine oleate or caproate, α-monocaprin, α-monolaurin, α-monomyristin, α- monostearin, zinc caprylate, zinc, nickel, magnesium or cupric laurate, zinc myristate, zinc stearate, dinonylnaphthalene sulphonate, tripentylmethylbenzene sulphonate, polyethylene nonylphenol ether, dodecyl ammonium butyrate or dodecyl ammonium propionate. The water-soluble orally consumable substance may be a medicine such as aspirin or thiabendazole; a nutrient such as ascorbic acid, B- vitamins, thiamine mononitrate, niacinamide, pyridoxine hydrochloride, cyanocobalamin, calcium puntothenate or ferrous sulphate, or aspirin or thiabendazole, a nutrient such as disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, sodium nitrite or sodium nitrate. |
