PURPOSE: A white smoke reducing apparatus of a diesel engine and a control method thereof are provided to decrease white smoke in starting without warming up by supplying high temperature and pressure air from a compressor through an intake manifold to a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION: A white smoke reducing device of a diesel engine is composed of a three-way valve(8) installed in a connecting pipe(6) connecting a compressor(5) and an air tank(9) to supply discharge air from the compressor to an intake manifold(2) or the air tank; an auxiliary pipe(7) connecting the three-way valve to an inlet of the intake manifold; a solenoid valve(4) shutting off an inlet pipe(3) with turning on and off by an ECU(Electronic Control Unit)(10); and the ECU shutting off the inlet pipe by the solenoid valve at coolant temperature below the reference value in starting, and increasing suction air temperature by switching the three-way valve to the intake manifold. White smoke is reduced by supplying high temperature and pressure air to the combustion chamber in starting at low temperature.
