PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a lid from easily falling off from a cassette casing when a strong impact is applied to the lid. SOLUTION: The tape cassette 100 runnably houses a magnetic tape 3 inside a cassette casing 2, and a part 3a of the magnetic tape is exposed outside the cassette casing. The tape cassette 100 is provided with a lid 5 supported inside the cassette casing so as to turn between a closed-lid position covering the exposed part of the magnetic tape against the outside and an open-lid position releasing the exposed part of the magnetic tape to the outside. The lid 5 is turnably supported in the cassette casing by supporting shafts 9 projectingly fixed at the both ends of the lid and inserted into a notched hole 12 with an opening 12a to one side formed on the side face of the cassette casing. A repulsing means 24, inserted between the lid and the cassette casing and energizing the lid to the closed-lid position, is supported by at least either one of the supporting shafts. A moving prevention section 29 to prevent the repulsing means from moving in the one direction is provided to the cassette casing.
