OFDM RECEIVING SYSTEM ESTIMATING EFFICIENT SYMBOL TIMING OFFSET AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexer) receiving system estimating efficient symbol timing offset and a method thereof are provided to estimate symbol timing offset insensible to the effect of channels with little calculation amount. CONSTITUTION: An OFDM receiving system estimating efficient symbol timing offset includes an analog-to-digital converter(110) converting OFDM signals into digital complex samples; an FFT window control element(120) removing a protection section in the digital complex sample and outputting effective data samples; an FFT operating element(130) fast fourier transforming the effective data samples; a distributed pilot extracting element(150) detecting distributed pilots inserted into the samples output from the FFT operating element; and a timing offset estimating element(160) complex multiplying complex numbers of the distributed pilots by complex numbers of the delayed and distributed pilots, accumulating real numbers and imaginary numbers during one symbol, and estimating effective data sample start timing of the FFT window control element and sampling clock timing of the analog-to-digital converter with the accumulated real number and imaginary number.
