PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that module projection area viewed from the front side of the recorder is large and disadvantageous in making the device small-sized. SOLUTION: This bar code reader is equipped with an optical module 1. The optical module comprises a nearly columnar base member 2 having a plurality of lead pins 3 implanted almost in parallel to the center axis, a light emitting element 5 which is mounted on the base member 2 by using a mount member and emits light for reading a bar code almost at right angles to the center axis of the base member 2, and a light receiving element 6 which is mounted on the mount member 4 together with the light emitting element 5. |
