PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image composite device and method that can surely composite still picture information with high resolution stored in a memory with moving picture information with low resolution. SOLUTION: In composing an SDTV moving picture and an HDTV high resolution still picture, the moving picture is up-sampled to increase number of pixels of the moving picture in the horizontal direction, number of pixels of the still picture in the vertical direction is reduced to have number of pixels corresponding to number of pixels of the moving picture information and number of pixels of the still picture information in the horizontal direction is extended so as to correspond to number of pixels of the moving picture information whose number of pixels in the horizontal direction is increased. Thus, it is not required for scaling processing for reduction in the horizontal direction, and when the still picture is stored in an SDRAM, the SDTV moving picture and the HDTV high resolution still picture can be composited. |
