PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent defective image and defective operation of a device caused by scatter of a residual developer on a developer carrier by leaving it for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The developing device is equipped with a developer supply means facing the developer carrier capable of independently controlling a developer supply quantity, and a developer recovery means which is arranged in the downstream of the developing range on the developer carrier, recovers the residual developer on the developing carrier, and recovers it into a developing container. Control is performed to stop the supply of the developer into the developer carrier (S1), and to stop the operation of rotation of the developer carrier and of the developer recovery means (S2, S3) after no residual developer remains on the developing carrier. |
