PURPOSE: A rail and method for manufacturing the same is provided to achieve improved precision by arranging a guide shaft to be parallel to the rail through a plurality of line contacts formed at the rail. CONSTITUTION: A guide shaft(11) is press fit into grooves(13) formed at both side surfaces of a rail(12), in such a manner that a ball bushing block of a linear motion guide moves in a linear way. Each groove formed at both side surfaces of the rail, has one or more contact portions(16) for line contacting the guide shaft which is press fit into the groove. Contact portions are formed sequentially in the lengthwise direction of the rail, in such a manner that contact portions correspond to each other. Contact portions are arranged in parallel with each other, to thereby improve precision. Alternatively, each groove formed at both side surfaces of the rail, has protrusions formed sequentially in the lengthwise direction of the rail.
