PURPOSE: Structure for a shock absorbing latch is provided to prevent a pedestrian from being injured by absorbing impact with moving down a latch fixing unit in bumping the pedestrian into a hood. CONSTITUTION: A striker(3) is installed in the lower part of a hood(1), and an impact detecting lever(2) is mounted in the hood. The impact detecting lever is moved down at a collision, and an impact transmitting rod(16) is moved up. A hood fixing transmitting lever(17) is turned by pushing the end of the hood fixing transmitting lever up with the impact transmitting rod. A vehicle body fixing transmitting lever(18) is turned with the lower part of a transmitting rod(19) with pushing a transmitting plate(21) down. An upper plate(12) is turned by a spring(6) with releasing the vehicle body fixing transmitting lever from a ledge. Impact is relieved by moving down the upper plate along a supporting leg(8) with fitting the supporting leg to a hole of the upper plate.
