PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric demineralizer having an improved performance for removing weak electrolytes, such as silica, and total organic carbon(TOC) components to which conventional demineralizers have a limited removal capacity. SOLUTION: In this electric demineralizer, a demineralization chamber and a concentration chamber are formed by setting a cation-exchange membrane and an anion-exchange membrane between positive and negative electrodes so that at least portions of the membranes are arranged alternately. The demineralization chamber is filled with an anion exchanger and a strongly acidic cation exchanger. The anion exchanger has at least one quaternary ammonium group in addition to at least one primary, secondary, or tertiary amino group. |
