PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in situ imaging method for cancer. SOLUTION: This in situ imaging method for cancer requires the administration of carbon-13 (<13> C)-enhancing nutrient to a patient. The nutrient administration step is executed orally or intravenously, and can be continued for about 24 hrs. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) is applied to the patient by use of a high frequency energy synchronous to the nuclear resonance of<13> C. The image of a selected tissue of the patient is formed by such a method, and every concentration of<13> C showing the presence of a cancer by diaphragms is then measured. The cancer, if present, can be thereafter treated. The second procedure (nutrient administration/MRI) is executed. In order to confirm the treatment effect or measure the multiplication rate of the cancer, the image formed in this procedure is compared with the image formed in the first procedure. |
