PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a thrombus in the blood flowing from outside correctly and easily without damaging a blood vessel. SOLUTION: Laser beams or rays of light from a light emitting diode are applied as pulse light to a blood layer 11, and the quantity of light of the reflected light or transmitting light for each pulse of the pulse light is measured. A thrombus in the blood is detected based on the measured data.
