PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for generating a large short circuit current and a high open circuit voltage, by forming, on a conductive surface of a substrate, an oxide semiconductor film having a film thickness, at least, of a specific size and a ratio more than a specific value, of its actual surface area to its apparent surface area, and causing a surface of the oxide semiconductor film to adsorb a specific organic pigment. SOLUTION: An oxide semiconductor is of zinc oxide, an oxide semiconductor film is a porous-structured film of the burned matter of an oxide semiconductor particulate aggregate, the film thickness is at least 10 nm, preferably 100 to 10,000 nm. and a ratio of its actual surface area to its apparent surface area is 10 or more, preferably 100 or more, and normally 1,000 to 2,000 without any upper limit. As an organic pigment, at least one kind is used selected from among dibromofluoresceine, dichlorofluoresceine, ergthrosine B, and fluoresceine. By combining such an oxide semiconductor with such an organic pigment, a solar battery is obtained having oxide semiconductor electrodes giving a practical current/voltage curve and a redox electrolyte contacting therewith. |
