PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmitter-receiver which is improved in error correction performance, taking advantage of the reliability of determination at demodulation corresponding to bit mapping in higher order QAM. SOLUTION: An error correction encoder 2 enables input bit strings to undergo an error correction encoding process, and the bit strings subjected to the process are outputted as sorted out corresponding to their conduciveness to error correction characteristics. A higher order QAM modulator 4 outputs so as to map bit strings having high conduciveness to error correction characteristics onto signal points of high judgement reliability in demodulation and bit strings having low conduciveness to error correction characteristics onto signal points of low judgement reliability in demodulation. |
