The drag lever of a valve gear, especially a switched valve gear, has one end (1) supported at a fixed frame section (2), and a second end (4) to operate a gas exchange valve. The center section (3) is operated by a cam, and a release lock (7) allows a tilting movement without operating the valve. The supported end has a relative movement to the lever, in the tilting direction. The supported end can be locked to the lever, by the release lock, and the released end is static at the same support. The release lock has a sliding bolt (8) to bond the supported end to the lever in a positive fit. The release lock is operated hydraulically, using motor oil fed into a pressure chamber (11), to move a piston.
