<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of production for 2-halogenated benzoic acids. SOLUTION: 2-Halogenated benzoic acids of formula (I) are produced by reacting benzoic acids of formula (II) with a halogenating agent in the presence of a Pd catalyst. (A is -OH, -OM (M is an alkali metal), -N(R<6> )R<7> (R<6> and R<7> are each H, a 1-6C alkyl group, a (substituted) phenyl group or the like), R is H, a 1-6C alkyl group, a 1-6C alkylcarbonyl group, a carboxy group, a 1-12C alkoxycarbonyl group, a (substituted) phenylcarbonyl group or the like, n is 0-4, X is Cl, Br, I, and (R)n optionally forms a 3-4C alkylene or a 3-4C alkenylene condensed ring by substituting adjacent C on the benzene ring).</p> |
