PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimal valve device to be used for preventing the flow of a fluid in a very high or low pressure region. SOLUTION: The valve device has a valve body 2, a hollow body 3 with one end being screwed with the valve body 2 and the other end extending to the outside of the valve body 2, a presser member 4 engaged with the other end of the hollow body 3, a shaft 5 with one end being located inside the valve body 2 via the hollow body 3 and the presser member 4 and the other end being located outside the presser member 4, a valve element 6 mounted at one end of the shaft 5 to be movable inside the valve body 2, a seal member 7 sandwiched between the valve element 6 and the shaft 5, a handle 9 fixed to the other end of the shaft 5, and an air-tight holding means 11, 12, 13 and 14. The seal member 7 is made of the Teflon (R) material, and can be separated from/brought into contact with a valve seat provided by the valve body 2.
