PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with an LCD back light where an LCD display mode is not changed by lighting a back light and which is easily operated such that the back light is lit with one hand and prevents erroneous photographing by operation for lighting it. SOLUTION: This camera with an LCD back light is equipped with an LCD display unit 104 displaying photographic information on an LCD 205 and a back light means (EL sheet 206) illuminating from the back of the LCD. In the camera, the lighting of the back light is started by operating not an operation member (108 and 109 and the like) for changing the setting of the LCD display mode but a zoom operation member (zoom-up button 106 and zoom-down button 107 and the like) as an operation member arranged so as to be operated with the hand to hold a camera main body and other operation member different from an operation member for photographing (release button 105 and the like) for performing photographing operation. Then, the operation member is operated while holding the camera, and the lighting is performed without performing photographing.
