An eyeglass lens designing method to which consideration of the eyeball movement (the Listing's law) is given enables ready production of a high-performance eyeglass lens. In the method, as a performance function concerning a visual acuity acuity and constituting a merit function used for optimization calculation, a visual performance function (logMAR) generally derived from the measured visual acuity value (V) is used. The visual acuity performance (logMAR) of when the curvature of field is made the aberration of a normal eyeglass lens and the residual astigmatism is made the astigmatism the definition of which is expanded by eyeglass lens designing in consideration of the Listing's law is expressed by formula (1) below: LogMAR = log10(1/V (curvature of field, residual astigmatism))
