Frozen or refrigerated toast comprising at least one slice of bread and a topping or filling has a soft crumb and crusty crust after reheating in a microwave oven. An Independent claim is also included for the production of toast as above by baking bread so that the moisture loss is 17-22%, keeping the bread at 4-10 degrees C for 1-7 days, slicing the bread, grilling one of the slices, distributing a layer of fatty material over the slice, applying a topping, packaging the toast in a plastic or cardboard package, and storing the product at refrigerator or freezer temperature. |
