This invention relates to sulfamides of formula (I) wherein R10 is C(O)OH or C(O)-NR11-OR12 and the other R symbols may be a wide variety of substituents including where R1 and R2 together with the C atom to which they are attached form a carbocycle or hetrocycle, where R3 and R1 or R2 and the atoms to which they are attached form a heterocycloamino group, where R20 and R21 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a heterocycloamino group and where either of R20 or R21 together with R3 forms an alkylene group. They are inhibitors of metalloproteases, (MMP inhibitors) for use in treating disorders of connective tissue.
