METHOD FOR ACCELERATED RECONSTRUCTION OF A THREE-DIMENSIONAL IMAGE

The invention concerns a method whereby sets of measuring projections through an object (1) whereof the image has to be represented are subjected to Fourier transforms before being broken down into blocks in accordance with cut-off frequencies. The blocks are reconstituted separately to form a series of pictures of the object, which are then combined to reconstitute the final image. The reconstruction calculations on the pictures are rapid, and a large part of the blocks will be discarded, in particular those which are at high frequencies, as their contribution can be disregarded and the noises accumulated therein. The invention is applicable to medical or industrial tomography processes, and it is of greater interest for mobile objects whereof the motion can be estimated and compensated.
