PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strand steel wire having excellent workability and high corrosion resistance and a method for producing the wire. SOLUTION: The plated strand wire having high corrosion resistance is a stranded steel wire having a thick plated layer at the outer circumference of the stranded wire compared with the thickness of the plated layer at the part contacting the element wires with each other. The difference of the plated layer thickness is >=3μm.
