PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a polymeric LED, and the polymeric LED obtained by the method, facilitating area enlargement and cost reduction and allowing pattern formation. SOLUTION: [1] In this method of manufacturing the polymeric light emitting element which has one or more layers containing at least one kind of polymeric material, between a pair of electrodes formed of a negative electrode and a positive electrode at least one of which is transparent or semitransparent, the layer containing the polymeric material is formed by flexography using a solution with the polymeric material dissolved or dispersed in a solvent, and the solvent used in the method of manufacturing the polymeric LED is a solvent wherein the rate of swelling of a flexographic plate when dipped in the solvent is 30% or less. [2] The polymeric light emitting element manufactured by the method [1] using the polymeric light emitting material including the repeat unit expressed by a formula (1) with the number average molecular weight of 10<3> -10<8> . -Ar1 -(CR1 =CR2 )n- (1) [Ar1 is an arylene group or the like. R1 , R2 are respectively a hydrogen atom or the like. N is 0 or 1].
