METHOD OF GENE TRANSFER VIA VASCULAR SYSTEM OR URETER

It is intended to provide a method of transferring a gene via vascular system or ureter. In a preferred embodiment, an aqueous solution containing an expression vector having a desired gene is injected ex vivo via the vascular system of a desired organ or ureter and thus the desired gene is transferred into the injected region. This method is particularly useful in an ex vivo gene therapy wherein hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) gene is transferred into a transplanted kidney by using the electroporation method. By using this method, it is possible to make HGF to continuously exert its effect not on the organs in the whole body but exclusively on the transplanted kidney. Thus, it is a safe and effective therapy of protecting the take of the transplanted kidney.
