PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unit for sustaining head ejection characteristics through which capping operation and wiping operation can be performed stably at all times through a simple arrangement, and a recorder comprising it. SOLUTION: The head ejection characteristics sustaining unit comprises a means 110 for wiping a recording head, a capping means 130 for sealing the recording head, and a drive means 170 having two planetary gears 176 and 177 for transmitting a driving force to both the wiping means and the capping means and one rotary means 172 for rotating each planetary gear and can drive the wiping means and the capping means for both forward rotation and reverse rotation of the rotating means by switching the meshing of respective planetary gears. Since a cam for driving a cap or a wiper does not require a conventional flag for detecting the initial position of the cap or the wiper, assembling and adjusting work of the unit is facilitated and the cost thereof can be reduced. |
