The invention relates to novel aryl ketones of general formula (I), wherein n represents the numbers 0, 1 or 2, A represents alkanediyl (alkylene), R1 represents one of the following groupings, m, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11, R12 and R13 having one of the meanings given in the description, R2 represents hydrogen, nitro, cyano, carboxy, carbamoyl, thiocarbamoyl, halogen, or optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino or dialkylaminosulfonyl, R3 represents nitro, cyano, carboxy, carbamoyl, thiocarbamoyl, halogen or optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino or dialkylaminosulfonyl and R4 represents an optionally substituted 4-to 12-membered, saturated or unsaturated, monocyclic or bicyclic, heterocyclic grouping.
