Radial ply tyre carcass has two half-reinforcements anchored in the beads containing at least one bead wire (1) to which they are connected. Each half-reinforcement is made from a single strand (2) that goes around the beadwire and forms adjacent lengths (20, 21, 22) extending from the beadwire to at least the means of joining the two halves, the two adjacent lengths of each group passing axially from the same side of the beadwire. Each alternate group passes from alternate sides of the beadwire.
