PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber precursor acrylonitrile(AN)-based yarn which can uniformly be coagulated in a coagulating bath, when wet-spun, has an excellent quality, and can be produced in improved productivity due to the decrease in the non-uniform concentrations and temperatures in the coagulating bath, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This carbon fiber precursor AN-based yarn comprising a carbon fiber precursor AN-based single filament bundle is characterized in that the fineness irregularity of the single filaments is 0 to 10% and the major axis/minor axis of the cross- sections of the single filaments is 0 to 10%. The method for producing the carbon fiber precursor AN-based yarn, having a process for wet-spinning an AN-based polymer with a nozzle pack, is characterized in that the side face of the nozzle pack has a smooth streamline shape in the direction opposite to the spinning direction and that the planar view of the nozzle pack satisfies the following expression (1): 1.5<=Lb/La<=3, 1.5<=Lc/La<=2, and 0.3<=Ld/La<=2...(1) (La is the width of the spinning side of the nozzle pack; Lb is a distance from the spinning side to the tip of the streamline shape; Lc is the maximum width of the streamline shape; and Ld is a distance from the spinning side to the maximum width of the streamline shape).
