PURPOSE: A data filtering device having a programmable fields and a method thereof are provided to reduce the size of data memory parts and remove the filter mask memory by using filter format register programmable by a user, and carry out the filtering by a filed unit. CONSTITUTION: A data filtering device having a programmable fields includes a filter format register(70) for storing filter information to determine the data filtering according to the request of a user, a data arrangement part(10) for reconstructing input data with reference to the filter information stored in the filter format register, memory parts(40,50) for storing a plurality of filter data set by a host, a data filtering part(20) for filtering the data output from the data arrangement part by the filter data and the filter information stored in the memory part and the filter format register, and a processing part(30) for processing the data filtered in the data filtering part to provide to the user.
