PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing caller IDs(IDentifications) using a CID(Caller Identification Display) service are provided to collect and store the caller IDs inputted from a plurality of communication lines to a single device and to supply them to associated communication systems. CONSTITUTION: A CID processing apparatus(600) is comprised of telephone line access parts(610-615), CID receiving parts(620-625), a port control part(630), a control part(640), a database(650), an Internet access part(660), and a serial access part(670). The telephone line access parts(610-615) are provided to accept a plurality of communication lines supplied from a serving exchange. The CID receiving parts(620-625), connected with the telephone line access parts(610-615) respectively, receive and decode a caller ID for each of the communication lines supplied from the serving exchange. The port control part(630) receives the caller IDs supplied from the CID receiving parts(620-625) and transmits them to the control part(640) using a specific protocol. The control part(640) executes a control operation to store and extract an additional caller ID and to display the relevant information. The database(650), divided into a system operation database and a caller ID database, supplies relevant information according to a request from the control part(640). The Internet access part(660) is provided to transmit caller IDs to private exchanges, called computers or called mobile terminals. The serial access part(670) transmits caller IDs to private exchanges.
