The controller/regulator for a WC cistern with a valve operated by a cam, a swinging vertical plate (29) interacting with a stop and an intermediate float (44) to give a short flush, and levers (16, 17) connected to a central tube and pivoting about a single axis (13) to select a long or short flush, has the axis adjustable between the long sides of a rectangular frame (4). The frame is fixed horizontally to the long walls of the cistern by threaded rods and also carries the hollow cylindrical pivot (28) of the swinging plate. The stop which determines the height of the tube's rise is formed by the horizontal head (39) of an adjustable screw.
