RICE-ORIGIN HIGH EXPRESSION POLYPEPTIDE CHAIN ELONGATION FACTOR PROMOTER AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME

DNA having a promoter activity for strongly expressing a foreign gene in a plant tissue (in particular, a tissue with the vigorous cell proliferation). This DNA is a rice 0sEF1 beta 1 gene promoter having the sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or a sequence containing a part thereof and having a promoter activity comparable to the activity of the sequence of SEQ ID NO:1. An expression vector containing this promoter and a foreign gene ligated thereto in such a manner as enabling the expression; plant cells transformed by this expression vector; plants regenerated from these plant cells; offsprings and propagations of the plants; seeds obtained from these offsprings; and a method of transferring a foreign gene into a plant by using the above expression vector.
