<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Ethernet (R) switch capable of realizing efficient communication without applying any load on a whole network even when it is necessary to transmit an ARP(Address Resolution Protocol) request packet when communicating with a desired opposite party's terminal. SOLUTION: A PC which tries to start communication transmits an ARP request packet to an Ethernet (R) switch 100. The Ethernet (R) switch 100 which receives the ARP request packet reads the IP(Internet Protocol) address and MAC(media access control) address of a desired transmission destination PC stored in an ARP table storage part 108, and fetches those addresses in an ARP reply packet generated by an ARP processing part 110, and transmits the ARP reply packet. Thus, a transmission origin PC is informed of the IP address and MAC address of the desired transmission destination PC.</p> |
