An auxiliary device, or guide for packaging machines where the product is packed into bags made of sheet material with self adhesive labels attached thereon is disclosed. Such machines are used for forming the sheet material with affixed labels into a tube for bag formation, where the bags are filled as they are formed. The conformation of the device prevents the labels coming off the sheet material within the machine, particularly in the transition area between sheet and tube. As shown in Fig. 3 and 4, the machine comprises a pre-forming neck (5) attached substantially transversally to a bag-forming tube (6), over which the sheet material (4) passes with the label (15) on the upper surface of the material. The device or guide (17) comprises a front portion (20) and a rear portion (21) that correspond in shape to the pre-forming neck, and is fitted so that there is a guide space (22) between the neck and the device to allow the sheet material with the affixed labels to pass through. Such guides may cover the full width of the sheet material, or part of the width, and may be affixed in pairs.
