PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal information management system and method that uses a database in a data center to manage personal information data stored in a mobile phone and stores, and edits the data and automatically notices of a prescribed user about the updated contents of the data. SOLUTION: The personal information management method includes a step, where an information processing unit connected via an interface to a mobile phone terminal reads personal data from a storage means of the mobile telephone terminal, a step of transmitting the data to the data center via the Internet, a step where the data center registers the received personal information data to the database in a prescribed form and stores the data, a step where the image processing unit accesses the data center to request transmission of the personal information data, a step where an extract means in the data center extracts the requested personal information data and transmits the extracted personal information data to the information processing unit, and a step or the like where the information processing unit receives the personal information data from the data center and writes the personal information data to the storage means of the mobile phone terminal connected via the interface.
