PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user of the extent that such a user's instruction as to carry out the prohibited user operation cannot be accepted before the start of reproduction for this instruction, and to avert the acceptance of the instruction and also to avert the inconvenience caused by the execution of the user function prohibited of the user operation in executing the respective functions, such as random reproduction. SOLUTION: This reproducing device and method perform reproducing relating to a recording medium recorded with information for controlling whether the user operation is possible or not by each of prescribed recording units in which the information for controlling whether the user operation is possible or not of the respective recording units is read out (step 2) before the reproduction is started. |
