PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make data voltage to be charged sufficiently to respective data lines in a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: In this display device, switching elements 410 are inserted respectively among adjacent data lines of data lines D1 to Dm to make the data lines D1 to Dm to be short-circuited right before gate-ON voltage is applied to gate lines G1 to Gn. When the adjacent data lines D1 to Dm are made to be short-circuited in this manner, the data lines D1 to Dm can be made to be charged preliminarily to the intermediate level Ve in the range of potential changes by an electric charge sharing effect. Thus, the distortion of the data voltage Vd due to the resistance of the data lines and parasitic capacitances can be improved by making the adjacent data lines D1 to Dm to be short- circuited in this manner.
