A device for connecting two thin plates A, B to each other includes a shank 1 having a head 2 adapted to be inserted into an opening in one plate A, the shank 1 being crossed by a slot 4 adapted to receive a marginal portion of the second plate B, the arrangement being such that when the device is fully inserted Fig. 5, into the aperture of plate A so that the two plates A, B are abutting and the head 2 is abutting the plate A, the marginal portion of plate B is deformed by the base of the slot 4 to form a lateral swelling B 1 . The slot may be so shaped that the marginal portion of plate B is curved in the slot (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown) or may be wedge shaped (Figs. 8 and 9, not shown). In another embodiment, the device is provided with a further slot (31) (Figs. 10 and 11, not shown) extending part way across the shank 1 and the head has a threaded hole (33). In a further embodiment, the walls of the slot have'teeth (42) (Fig. 13, not shown). The slot may be curved. |
